YAJUR VEDA

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Veda in Sanskrit means knowledge. Veda has a large amount of text and is the oldest sacred books of Sanskrit literature. We have four Vedas, Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharvana. Yajur means sacrificial formula and therefore Yajur Veda is knowledge on sacrificial knowledge, and the mantras are recited while performing the sacrifice. Sacrificing is an illegal act today. But once sacrificing was considered as a tool to reach god. More like a bribery. One who bribes can easily be granted to what they wished. This Veda is said to be composed between 1400 and 1000 BC, and is still practiced in notorious parts.
